Gregory has now entered the "WHY?" zone. I've always heard about it, and given my own intellectual bent, expected our kids to participate fully. But there's nothing like actually experiencing it. It's humbling, in a way, since there are so many why questions I can't answer.
I guess we don't have to run to the car after all, Gregory. "WHY?" Well, because it stopped raining. "WHY?" Well, I'm sure it has something to do with water condensation in the atmosphere, maybe some sort of saturation point or something. "WHY?" Well, honestly, I don't know. "WHY?" Well, I suppose because I never took an earth sciences class in high school or undergrad. "WHY?" Well, I wasn't really interested in taking them. "WHY?" I don't know, Gregory. "WHY?" I don't know why I don't know, Gregory. "WHY?"

Your wife may not remember this, but Maryellen (and I) went through this for a year or two when she was somewhere about that age...! In the end, I had to agree that the answer to "Why?", in the end, is ALWAYS, "BECAUSE!" (usually spoken somewhat loudly, and through gritted teeth! Enjoy!
