Our New Home

Our new home is a large apartment/townhouse that we love. We had a hard time finding an affordable apartment in a safe place, so this unit is far above our previous expectations. It is newly rehabbed with a new kitchen that includes a *dishwasher* (which I vowed to kiss when I heard the news but haven't fulfilled said promise). The 3 bedrooms are large, as are all the rooms in the house. The backyard is shared with the other 2 apartments. It should be fenced-in soon, which will make our time outside much easier. The neighborhood is "transitional" ranging from small mansions to run down apartments. Almost all of the buildings were built around the turn of the century and are brick Victorian houses or apartments. A lot of the run down buildings are the process of being rehabbed, but with the lag in home sales, many of these projects are being stalled. Here are a few shots of our street. As you can see, the houses are very close together -- sometimes too close to walk between.

We got this apartment thanks to Jon's marathon, last-minute drive to St. Louis this spring. Thanks, Jon! You done good.
