I followed the Mississippi River down from Minnesota to Missouri with the kids, and Jon had his own adventures loading, driving, and unloading our truck. The kids and I broke up the 9 hours of driving into 2 days, so it really wasn't any worse than I expected. I left St. Paul at nap time and the kids slept most of the first day of driving. As expected, they went to sleep promptly at about 1:30 a.m. that night. They enjoyed the hotel pool, which had a little kiddie section for kids their size. They also enjoyed pancake breakfast where Emmie dumped her pancake syrup on the floor. Other highlights: Gregory discovered his love for Hostess cupcakes. Emmie licked the trash can in a gas station restroom. Except for the pancakes, the kids lived off Sprite, french fries, and ketchup for the duration of the trip.

The cupcake break:

We travelled through a strong windstorm, so our "breath of fresh air" was a bit intense for Emmie.

Gregory chooses his dinner:

Yeah Emmie, I feel the same way.

By the end of the second day, the kids were pretty desperate to get out of the car, but no major meltdowns. Gregory was VERY excited about the move and repeated "new home new home new home" once we entered the city of St. Louis.
In summary, we made it safely and relatively easily. We are thankful for all the prayers and support!
