Gregory's speech has been improving a lot these days. (He's in speech therapy twice a week now.) If we had our working camera, we could upload a video of him talking. Until then, a few stories will have to do.
He has taken to telling us that he loves us. When he says it, it sounds like "I wud you." It's the cutest thing in the whole world, I tell ya.
He's also an logical thinker, so he likes to go through all the possible ways of turning "x wuds y" into a true claim. "I wud you, Dad. I wud you, Mom. I wud you, Em. I wud you, nee." ("Nee" is his way of saying "me.") After he says, "I wud you, Dad," he waits for me to answer back, "I love you, too, Gregory."
After the first time we said "I love you, too, Gregory," Gregory replied, "I wud you, wun, I wud you, two, I wud you, tee, I wud you, pour, I wud you, pive."
Gregory and likes to pretend that we're Thomas the Tank Engine trains. A few days ago, Gregory and Meaghan were pretending that Gregory was Toby the tram engine and Meaghan was the newest member of his collection, the breakdown train. At some point, Gregory stopped and said to Meaghan: "I wud you, bake down tain." Meaghan replied, "I love you, too, Toby."
Today in the car, he was going through his list of all the people in the car he loves. "I wud you, Dad." "I love you, too, Gregory." "I wud you, mom." "I love you, too, Gregory." "I wud you, Em." No response.
Louder: "I wud you, Em!" Still no response.
Almost yelling: "I WUD YOU, EM!"
Emmie sat stubbornly ignoring him, too engulfed in the brownie I had just given her to appreciate the sentiment. Finally, Meaghan says, "Gregory, Emmie loves you, too, she's just not very talkative right now."
