Tonight Gregory and Meaghan and I watched the last parts of Finding Nemo. Nemo's father has spent almost the entire movie on a journey trying to find Nemo, who was captured by divers. At the end of the movie there is the typical, moving reunion scene, and Nemo swims up to his father and gives him a big hug and says, "I love you dad." (Imagine the music in your head.)
After watching the final scene, I turn to Gregory, who's laying right next to me on the couch, and say, "Gregory, can I have a hug?"
Without moving his eyes from the movie, Gregory quickly shakes his head, No.
Meaghan laughs and pats me on the back, as if to say, "Your Disney moments won't come that easily, dear."

Does this mean it's easier to get a PhD than it is to get a little hug?
I usually get a few hugs a day from the littl'uns. It took my eight years to get the Ph.D. Here is a case, though, where the more common thing is actually *more* valuable than the less common thing. So much for the whole supply and demand thing.
